The Department of Medicine Hematology Oncology (PHO) at VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital successfully performed the bone marrow transplant. The patient was discharged after the successful transplant. He will remain under strict observation for the next two months.

The Pediatric Hematology Oncology (PHO) Division at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) and Safdarjung Hospital (SJH) has achieved a significant milestone by successfully conducting its first pediatric bone marrow transplant.

Dr Ratan Gupta, HoD, Peds, said the procedure was performed free of cost on a nine-year-old child suffering from high-risk Hodgkin lymphoma. Dr Prashant Prabhakar led the transplant team and autologous transplant was performed on August 2 after conditioning chemotherapy. After successful transplant, the patient was discharged on September 7 and will remain under strict observation for the next two months.
